I have stuck with The Beast for two main reasons. It is the last model Toyota made without any electronics. Theoretically that means anyone can fix it, even me…. It also runs on crude oil and has no apparent minimum sulphur level of the diesel you can add to the tank. It is reputed that the sulphur levels in Zambia, and other areas of Africa, are very high, in the thousands. The Toyota manufacturers claim there is only one new model which will run on a sulphur content of more than 50 ppm and that is the Diesel 4.2 V6 model which is, more or less, the updated engine of this car.
